UA Rich Mountain Student Housing
Overview
As the mission of the University of Arkansas – Rich Mountain continued to evolve, the need for on-campus housing became critical to attract traditional students and those participating in the college’s new athletics programs. Multi-bed townhouse apartment-style units will maximize square footage and can be built in phases as financing and demand allows. The 4 separate building units will house 150 students as well as residential assistants. By orienting the units along a utility party wall, the townhouses maintain a highly efficient floor plan that will house 8 students each. Utilizing materials such as masonry and muted paint colors allow these apartments to blend into the campus context, all the while giving the modern, minimal volumes a striking and appealing feel.
The building units are arranged on the site to accommodate future expansion, while also providing ample exterior space in between, giving residents the room to socialize, study and play outside of their apartments in a park-like setting.
