UACCM Workforce Training Center
Overview
“When it comes to skills– and trade–based training, it’s going to be an answer to a lot of dreams and industry needs across the central–Arkansas area.” — Conway County Judge Jimmy Hart
The largest project in the college’s history, the Workforce Training Center consolidates several existing programs into a centralized building to accommodate growing demand, offering more educational opportunities for students and economic development for the college and city. Recognizing the chance for strengthening relationships and collaborative work between disciplines such as automobile service, welding, electrical systems, etc., MAHG emphasized social spaces in the design. Starting with the outdoor courtyard in front of the building’s main entrance, social spaces are intertwined closely with circulation space throughout the building.
Active efforts toward sustainability were made both within the design and during construction of the building, leading its current pursuit of LEED Silver status. These efforts range from green spaces and material choices to recycling during construction and recycling offered at the facility for unique materials.
