Fort Smith Museum of History Condition Assessment

Overview

The Fort Smith Museum of History is located in the Atkinson-Williams Hardware Company Building, which is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. Over the years since it’s construction in 1906, the structure has settled and developed a list of problems that require repair. MAHG Architecture, alongside historic preservation, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and elevator consultants was tasked with developing a Condition Assessment Plan and Master Plan that documents the issues throughout the building, proposes history-respecting solutions and would ultimately inform future grant applications and planning. The Condition Assessment plan was conducted with grants from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program.
