Van Buren Public Library

City of Van Buren & Crawford County Library System

Overview

The New 19,200 s.f. Van Buren Public Library was designed using LEED principles such as building orientation and daylight harvesting. An Entry tower and “L” shaped spine connect the public ways with the main library and public meeting spaces. The Reading Room and Main Collections space is daylit from a clerestory through the exposed wood timber trusses. A Computer Lab, Genealogy Room and Small Study Rooms connect to the Reading Room. The Library also will contain a Children’s Library with Story Hour Space and an outdoor Garden space. A key connection to the residential neighborhood to the north is the covered Reading porch.
